Hydropower R&D
Hydropower Research and Development Team

Established in 2004, the R&D center of Zhefu Group includes: the Fu'an Institute of Hydraulic Machinery, the CAEC Computing Center, the Department of Turbine Design, the Department of Generator Design, the Department of Engineering Technology, the Department of Manufacturing Technology, and the Department of Insulation Development. Over more than 10 years of development, it features a host of outstanding employees and has become industry-leading. Currently, the center has 293 R&D employees, including one senior expert who receives allowance from the State Council, five distinguished experts, 15 doctoral degree holders, and more than 30 master's degree holders.

Research and Development Strengths
Based on the model of the former factory of Fuchunjiang Hydropower Equipment Co., Ltd., hydraulic turbine design combines technical strengths of large hydraulic turbine manufacturers at home and abroad with its own technical traits. Moreover, ongoing development of key technologies has led to the shaping of its own technical characteristics. At present, with world-leading hydraulic turbine design, it can provide customers with Kaplan, Francis, Bulb, Pelton and other hydro generator sets, as well as pumped storage units and tidal generator sets. It particularly shows great strengths in large bulb and propellor turbine design. Moreover, it has made tremendous progress in the development of Francis turbines with an ultra-high hydraulic head.

Advanced bar manufacturing equipment

VPI-based high-voltage bar manufacturing. The main insulation materials of the stator bar largely determine the operational reliability and lifespan of the generator. Mica tape, impregnated resins, and other materials are the basic insulation materials of the stator. With the increase of unit capacity and rated voltage, there are higher requirements for main insulating materials such as mica tape and impregnated resins. Vacuum Pressure Impregnation (VPI) is currently the best insulation technology in the world, and it improves moisture resistance and heat dissipation of the motor for stronger operational reliability, and makes it more suitable for harsh environments. In addition, the VPI-treated insulating layer is free of air space and has decent integrity. The development of 18kV high-voltage bars for generators can ensure products secure and reliable.
